Engineering & Coding

There are five key ways we see customers using Jamm – some are obvious while others are not. Let’s dive in.

Group Programming / Distributed Debugging

Huddle to quickly jump into a call by jumping into the “Common Area” or start an impromptu Jamm session with your teammates by clicking ‘Jamm Now’. Share your screen, use the whiteboard, take advantage of shared pointers to walk through the code. The mini mode lets you huddle without getting in the way. Record snippets of the session and share links in GitHub, JIRA or any other place you might want to highlight important context.

Code Review / PR Feedback

Often times, you want to be able to provide detailed comments or explain your thinking without going back and forth in code review or PR comments. Leverage the recorder in Jamm and share your screen to provide detailed comments and walkthrough the various feedback items visually along with your voice and video commentary. Also jump into a call with someone and share screen to walk through feedback and record snippets to be captured for other members of your team to catch up.

How-to-guides/ Repro steps

A picture is worth a thousand words, but audio-visual walkthroughs are even better! No more “what are repro steps?”. Record a video with screen-sharing enabled and walkthrough repro steps, provide detailed feedback, talk through behavior and also share links of recorded video in your bug tracking tool. Get on a live Jamm sesh and also talk through issues with your crew. Go ahead and record yourself deploying and pushing the latest code by recording the terminal with your commentary. No more getting woken up in the middle of the night with a “how do we do this?”.

Rapid Sync-Up / Production Issues

Jump into a live, ad-hoc Jamm session using the Jamm Now button. You can always hang-out with your team, toggle video on or off or if you are super cool, you can quickly jump in and out of walkie-talkie mode by using the SHFT + CTR/CMD + M shortcut to talk and quickly mute yourself. No more annoying background noise and hearing the neighbors’ dogs.

Social Bonding / Hanging out

Click on your avatar and select ‘re-record avatar’ in the drop down to quickly record a funky video avatar. We at Jamm celebrate code pushes, customer wins and more with playful video avatars. Make it fun! Hang out in a live huddle with your team or send video snippets of your new cat to your team!
